Scotland advances to final

SWIFT CURRENT, March 27, 2010

Scotland's 19-year-old Eve Muirhead of Dunkeld upended Canada's Jennifer Jones 10-4 on Saturday night to advance to Sunday's championship final in the Ford World women's curling champion.

Muirhead, with third Kelly Wood, second Lorna Vevers and lead Anne Laird, advances against Germany's Andrea Schoepp in today's (Sunday's) 3 p.m. championship final.

The teams previously met during the round-robin preliminary segment of the championship with Schoepp the 9-6 winner.

Canada dropped to this morning's (Sunday's) bronze-medal match against Sweden's Cecilia Ostlund. The teams previously met in the first round of preliminary play with Canada winning 9-6.

Thec 45-year-old Schoepp previously won the world title in 1988. Scotland lead player Laird won the title in 2002, playing with Jackie Lockhart in Bismarck, N.D.
