SOREL-TRACY, January 23...British Columbia (Dailene Sivertson of Victoria) advanced to Saturday night's semi-final against Northern Ontario with a methodical 6-3 win over Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen of Saskatoon) in the second tiebreaker at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors.

British Columbia jumped in front 4-0, with steals of one in the first, one in the third (after the second end was blanked) and two in the fourth.    Saskatchewan couldn't recover after that.

This morning, the Victoria Curling Club team stole seven points when eliminating Alberta in the first tiebreaker, 12-1.

"We weren't planning to steal.  We just knew that we had to set up the rocks and try to put pressure on the other team," explained Sivertson, a 19-year-old Accounting student at Camosun College.  "Wait for mistakes and capitalize whenever we could.

"We're ready for it (three games in one day)," continued Sivertson, who finished third in 2007 in St. Catharines in her M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors debut.   "I was young then.  It was my first time at a national championship.  So I've been hungry to get back for more.  And I've been waiting for the semi-final for long time."

Her team will face Northern Ontario (Kendra Lilly of Sudbury), which it lost to, 11-8 in Draw 4 of the round robin,  in tonight's 7:30 pm semi-final, with the winner advancing to Sunday's final at 2:30 pm, live on TSN, against undefeated (12-0) Ontario (Rachel Homan of Ottawa). 

The men's semi-final also goes at 7:30 pm at Le Colisée, with Ontario (Jake Walker of Kitchener) taking on Saskatchewan (Braeden Moskowy of Regina).

The winner will meet Manitoba (Alex Forrest of Winnipeg) in Sunday's final at 7:30 pm, live on TSN.

La Colombie-Britannique accède à la demi-finale

SOREL-TRACY, le 23 janvier... La Colombie-Britannique (Dailene Sivertson de Victoria) accède à la demi-finale de samedi soir contre le Nord de l'Ontario après une victoire de 6-3 sur la Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen de Saskatoon) dans le deuxième match de bris d'égalité aux championnats canadiens M&Meat Shops 2010 de curling junior.

La Colombie-Britannique a pris une avance de 4-0 avec le vol d'un point au premier bout, un autre au 3e (le deuxième a été blanchi) et deux autres au 4e. La Saskatchewan n'a pas pu s'en remettre après cela.

Ce matin, l'équipe du Victoria Curling Club avait volé 7 points lorsqu'elle a éliminé l'Alberta dans le premier bris d'égalité avec un pointage de 12-1.

"Nous n'avions pas planifié de voler.  Nous savions que nous devions placer nos pierres correctement et mettre de la pression sur nos adversaires," a expliqué Sivertson, étudiante de 19 ans en comptabilité au Camosun College.  "Nous avons attendu les erreurs et nous avons capitalisé chaque fois que nous le pouvions.

"Nous sommes prêtes pour la prochaine (trois matchs la même journée)," a ajouté Sivertson qui a terminé troisième en 2007 à St. Catharines à ses débuts aux Juniors canadiens M&M Meat Shops.   "J'étais jeune encore. C'était ma première participation à un championnat national. J'avais hâte de revenir. J'ai attendu longtemps pour jouer dans la demi-finale."

Son équipe affrontera le Nord de l'Ontario (Kendra Lilly de Sudbury) qui l'a battue, 11-8, dans la 4e ronde, dans le match de demi-finale, ce soir, à 19h30. La gagnante accèdera à la finale de dimanche à 14h30 qui sera télédiffusée en direct sur le réseau TSN. Elle se mesurera à l'équipe invaincue (12-0) de l'Ontario (Rachel Homan d'Ottawa). 

La demi-finale des hommes aura lieu également à 19h30 au Colisée mettant aux prises l'Ontario (Jake Walker de Kitchener) et la Saskatchewan (Braeden Moskowy de Regina).

Le gagnant rencontrera le Manitoba (Alex Forrest de Winnipeg) dans le match final, dimanche à 19h30 présenté en direct sur le réseau TSN.
