SOREL-TRACY, January 23...British Columbia (Dailene Sivertson of Victoria) made quick work of Alberta (Nadine Chyz of Calgary), 12-1 Saturday morning to advance to a second tiebreaker this afternoon at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors.

British Columbia opened with a deuce in the first end, then proceeded to steal one in the second and three in the third for a quick 6-0 lead.  After Alberta took one in the fourth end, British Columbia counted three in the fifth followed by another steal of three in the sixth, which signalled the end.

British Columbia had finished the round robin in a three-way tie for third with Alberta and Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen), all with 8-4 marks, thus necessitating tiebreakers.  Since Saskatchewan had defeated both during the round robin, it sat out the first tiebreaker.

Now, British Columbia faces Saskatchewan this afternoon at 2:30 pm, with the winner advancing to Saturday night's semi-final at 7:30 pm against Northern Ontario (Kendra Lilly of Sudbury).

Similarly, the men's semi-final tonight, also at 7:30 pm, pits Ontario (Jake Walker of Kitchener) against Saskatchewan (Braeden Moskowy of Regina).

Ontario (Rachel Homan of Ottawa), which went undefeated during the round robin with a 12-0, and Manitoba (Alex Forrest of Winnipeg), with a 10-2 record, each finished first to advance to their respective finals.

The women's final will be played Sunday at 2:30 pm while the men's final will begin at 7:30 pm ET, with both games from Le Colisée televised live on TSN across Canada.

La Colombie-Britannique accède au second bris d'égalité

SOREL-TRACY, le 23 janvier... La Colombie-Britannique (Dailene Sivertson de Victoria) a rapidement éliminé l'Alberta (Nadine Chyz de Calgary), 12-1, samedi matin pour accéder au second bris d'égalité, cet après-midi, aux championnats canadiens M&Meat Shops 2010 de curling junior.

La Colombie-Britannique a débuté en inscrivant deux points au premier bout, puis en a volé un au 2e et trois au 3e pour prendre une avance de 6-0.  Ensuite, l'Alberta a marqué un point au 4e bout, la Colombie-Britannique en a inscrit trois au 5e et en a volé trois au 6e, ce qui a marqué la fin du match.

La Colombie-Britannique a terminé les rondes préliminaires à égalité au troisième rang avec l'Alberta et la Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen) avec une fiche de 8-4; il fallait procéder à des bris d'égalité. Vu que la Saskatchewan a battu les deux équipes durant les matchs préliminaires, elle était au repos durant le premier bris d'égalité.

Maintenant, la Colombie-Britannique va se mesurer à la Saskatchewan, cet après-midi à 14h30. L'équipe gagnante accèdera à la demi-finale de samedi soir à 19h30 contre le Nord de l'Ontario (Kendra Lilly de Sudbury).

Également à 19h30, la demi-finale masculine mettra aux prises l'Ontario (Jake Walker de Kitchener) et la Saskatchewan (Braeden Moskowy de Regina).

L'Ontario (Rachel Homan d'Ottawa) qui est demeurée invaincue durant les rondes préliminaires (12-0) et le Manitoba (Alex Forrest de Winnipeg) avec une fiche de 10-2 accèdent à leurs finales respectives ayant terminé en tête de leur catégorie.
La finale féminine aura lieu, dimanche à 14h30 tandis que celle des hommes se tiendra à 19h30 (Est). Les deux matchs seront télédiffusés en direct du Colisée sur le réseau TSN à travers le Canada.
