SOREL-TRACY, January 18...Things are tightening up a bit in the standings at the M&M Meat Shops Canadian Juniors, presented by AMJ Campbell Van Lines.

Monday afternoon, Northern Ontario (Kendra Lilly of Sudbury) and Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen of Saskatoon) each emerged victorious to move to 4-1, just a game behind the undefeated 4-0 women's leader Ontario (Rachel Homan of Ottawa).

Northern Ontario slammed Northwest Territories (Amanda Moizis of Hay River), 16-2, while Saskatchewan took three in the deciding 10th end to defeat British Columbia (Dailene Sivertson of Victoria), 11-8 in Draw 8 action.

In other games, Alberta (Nadine Chyz of Calgary) moved into a tie with British Columbia at 3-2 with a 9-6 win over New Brunswick (Jessica Daigle of Saint John) while Nova Scotia (Tara LeGay of Bridgewater) ousted Prince Edward Island (Sarah Fullerton of Cornwall), 8-4.

In men's, Saskatchewan (Braeden Moskowy of Regina) suffered its first defeat at the hands of British Columbia (Tyler Klymchuk of Langley), which stole a single in the 10th end and one in the extra for a 7-6 victory.   Alberta (Brendan Bottcher of Edmonton) disposed of New Brunswick (Josh Barry of Rothesay), 10-3. 

Defending champion Prince Edward Island (Brett Gallant of Charlottetown) also needed to steal, this time a deuce in the 11th end, to clip Nova Scotia (Scott Garnett of Halifax), 9-7 and improve to 3-2 while Northern Ontario (Christian Tolusso of Thunder Bay) defeated Northwest Territories (Colin Miller of Yellowknife), 9-4.

The results left idle Manitoba (Alex Forrest of Winnipeg) alone in first with a 4-0 mark, followed by Alberta and Saskatchewan at 4-1, with Ontario (Jake Walker of Kitchener) at 3-1.

Play continues with Draw 9 Monday night at 7:00 pm at both Colisée Cardin and Club de curling Aurèle-Racine.

Les écarts se resserrent en haut du classement aux Juniors

SOREL-TRACY, le 18 janvier.... Les écarts tendent à se faire moins grands au classement des championnats canadiens M&Meat Shops de curling junior, présentés par AMJ Campbell Van Lines.

Lundi après-midi, le Nord de l'Ontario (Kendra Lilly de Sudbury) et la Saskatchewan (Trish Paulsen de Saskatoon) ont gagné leurs matchs et présentent une fiche de 4-1, un seul match derrière la meneuse encore invaincue, l'Ontario (Rachel Homan d'Ottawa) à 4-0.

Le Nord de l'Ontario a écrasé les Territoires du Nord-Ouest (Amanda Moizis de Hay River), 16-2 tandis que la Saskatchewan a marqué trois points au 10e bout et a vaincu la Colombie-Britannique (Dailene Sivertson de Victoria), 11-8.

Dans les autres matchs, l'Alberta (Nadine Chyz de Calgary) a maintenant une fiche de 3-2 après sa victoire de 9-6 contre le Nouveau-Brunswick (Jessica Daigle de Saint John) tandis que la Nouvelle-Écosse (Tara LeGay de Bridgewater) a défait l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (Sarah Fullerton de Cornwall), 8-4.

L'Alberta (Brendan Bottcher d'Edmonton) a disposé du Nouveau-Brunswick (Josh Barry de Rothesay), 10-3. 

Le champion en titre, l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard (Brett Gallant de Charlottetown) a eu besoin d'un vol, cette fois deux points au 11e bout pour battre la Nouvelle-Écosse (Scott Garnett de Halifax), 9-7, et améliorer sa fiche à 3-2 tandis que le Nord de l'Ontario (Christian Tolusso de Thunder Bay) a battu les Territoires du Nord-Ouest (Colin Miller de Yellowknife), 9-4.

Avec ces résultats, le Manitoba (Alex Forrest de Winnipeg) est seul en tête à 4-0 suivi de l'Alberta et de la Saskatchewan à 4-1 et l'Ontario (Jake Walker de Kitchener) à 3-1.

Les matchs de la ronde 9 seront présentés, lundi soir, à 19h00 au Colisée Cardin et au Club de curling Aurèle-Racine.
