50th Anniversary World Curling Tattoo
The organizing committee for the April 3-12 Ford World Men’s Curling Championship are thrilled to announce that 50 years of world curling will be celebrated in Moncton with an outstanding opening ceremony.
The World Curling Tattoo will take place on Friday, April 3 at the Moncton Coliseum at 7:30 pm.
Chairman Jim Lockyer states "it will be a show that will be two-and-a-half hours long, it will be a spectacular event that will consist of music, historical curling pageantry and heritage, former winning world champions, audio visual presentations, all incorporating the elements of the official ceremony".
More than 16 performers have already been confirmed to perform in the spectacle, including the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra, HMCS Stadacona Band, RCMP Pipes and Drums, Matt Anderson, Samantha Robichaud, the Neil Michaud Choir, Les Jeunes Chanteurs d'Acadie and many more. The show will also feature dancing and upwards of 30 pageant performers. (Click here for full list of performers confirmed to date)
"It will be a spectacular show, the likes of which we've not had in this community ever before. It will have a cast of over 350 people and will be shown before a crowd of 6,000 people "Lockyer said. "This is Greater Moncton's way and New Brunswick's way of saying hello to the world."
The closing ceremonies will also feature a 30-45 minute musical presentation with many of the performers from the opening ceremonies collaborating to bring an end to what is expected to be a landmark event for New Brunswick.
"With the final presentation, all those groups will come together to ensure that anybody who walks out of the Coliseum will walk out with mushy eyes and tears," Lockyer said. "It's going to be a truly fabulous closing, a truly outstanding opening and that's all part of the package for those who buy tickets."
