World Curling Federation President presents official Championship Banner to Regional Representatives

Tuesday, October 30, 2007, Vernon, BC….The President of the World Curling Federation, Les Harrison joined the Host Committee of the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship today to announce the November 2nd launch of Mini Pack Tickets and to present the official Championship Banner to the region.

“We are very excited to have Greater Vernon host this International Championship,” said Les Harrison, President of the World Curling Federation. “The International Community is very excited about Vernon and the Okanagan being the destination for the Ford Worlds, March 22 – 30 at the Greater Vernon Multiplex, and we are all looking forward to spending time in this beautiful part of the world.” Harrison continued. “We are very confident that the curling fraternity in Vernon will provide a first class international event in a world class facility.”

The banner traveled from the 2007 Host site in Aomori, Japan and will be carried in by the reigning World Champions, the Kelly Scott Team.

“What a wonderful opportunity for this region to shine on the World stage,” said Kelly Scott, Skip of the 2007 World Women’s Curling Championship Team. “As a team we are excited that the event is being held so close to home and would be honoured to represent Canada in our home Province.”

Today the committee also officially recognized and thanked Ford of Canada for continuing their sponsorship of World Curling in Canada. The year 2008 will mark the 14th year of Ford’s commitment to these championships and the development of curling across the country.

Rob Pringle announced the long awaited launch of the Mini Packs. “We have been receiving countless calls about mini pack availability and are pleased to be able to offer a large number of ways in which fans can fit the event into their schedules, said Rob Pringle, Chair of the 2008 Ford World Women’s Curling Championship. “Whether they can come Opening weekend, Closing weekend or sometime in between, we have a package that will accommodate everyone.”
