Regina, Saskatchewan – It was announced today that new ticket packages will go on sale on Friday October 19 for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts at the Brandt Centre at IPSCO Place, February 16 – 24, 2008.

Turning Family Day into a Family Weekend

For the Family Day long weekend, February 16 – 18, new Family Size ticket packages have been introduced. Family Size packages include six individual draw tickets for just $60 to any of the eight draws over the three days or ten tickets for just $75. “This is great family value”, said Cathy Trowell Co-Chair of the 2008 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. “We want to encourage people of all ages – young and old - to come and share in the excitement of watching Canada’s best women curlers compete to become Team Canada.”

Hearti Packs Now Available in 4 Sizes

Two new Hearti Packs were also introduced.

  • The Early Riser includes the six morning and afternoon draws
    February 18 – 20 for $80
  • The Night Owl includes three evening draws from February 18 – 20 for just $40

The two new Hearti Packs build on the previously announced mini packs for the Opening and Closing weekends, which include:

  • The Grand Opener includes all five draws on the opening weekend for just $80
  • The Grand Champion includes the final day of round robin play plus all playoffs and the final game from February 21 – 24 for $130

This will be the third time that Regina has hosted the Canadian Women’s Curling Championship. The city hosted the first ever Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 1982 and then set an attendance record that still stands in 1998 when Sandra Schmirler’s team returned home with their gold medals from Nagano.

“Saskatchewan is the only province whose official sport is curling”, said Trowell. “We have a proven track record of hosting successful championships and the 2008 Scotties will be another huge success.”
