Regina, Saskatchewan - It was announced today that Opening Weekend Mini Packs – called the “Grand Opener” would go on sale March 1st. These silver and bronze packages include the Ford Hot Shots, opening ceremonies, and five draws between Saturday and Sunday for just $80.00. In addition, Closing Weekend Mini Packs – called the “Grand Champion” will be on sale. These silver and bronze packages include the draws from Thursday up to and including the final game on Sunday for $130.00.
Early ticket sales have been very strong for the 2008 Scotties Tournament of Hearts. Cathy Trowell who attended the Scotties in Lethbridge said, “Lethbridge put on a tremendous event and I was proud to extend an invitation to everyone to continue to celebrate this great Canadian tradition at Hearti Gras in Regina!”

Honourary Chairs
It was also announced today that the Honourary Chairs for the 2008 Scotties Tournament of Hearts will be team members from the 1998 Olympic Gold medal team – Jan Betker, Joan McCusker, Marcia Gudereit, Atina Ford Johnston and Anita Ford. Betker and Gudereit have just returned from the Scotties in Lethbridge where they were runners-up to Kelly Scott’s Team Canada.
Sandra Schmirler was remembered last week at the Scotties in Lethbridge. In a speech at the opening ceremonies, Shannon England said, “The '98 Scott was a blur for me. With the jet lag, the euphoria of the girls' winning gold and seeing family and friends, it was hard to pay attention to the curling.” He added, “I still get shivers when I recall the girls being introduced to the roar of nearly 7,000 fans giving them an incredible homecoming.”
That magic will be alive in Regina at Hearti Gras 2008 in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Schmirler team winning Olympic gold in Nagano.
