JRI Junior Stars Program

12 junior curlers from around the province have been chosen randomly to become honorary 5th players on the 12 Provincial teams at the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier. Contestants entered online at www.seasonofchampions.ca.

The winners will have the opportunity to meet their designated team and be introduced at ice level in front of the crowd at the MTS Centre. They will receive a team coloured jacket as well as tickets to the draw. Winners were chosen to represent 6 male and 6 female junior curlers with half from Winnipeg and half from rural Manitoba. The winners of the JRI Junior Stars program are: 

  • Johanna Thiessen - Team Manitoba – Draw 1  
  • Chris Davis - Team Alberta  - Draw 2
  • Austin Maxwell - Team Ontario – Draw 4
  • Chantel Reles - Team Yukon/NWT – Draw 5
  • Evan Los - Team Saskatchewan – Draw 7
  • Matt Brown - Team Prince Edward Island – Draw 8
  • Ricky Kowalick - Team Nova Scotia – Draw 10
  • Nikki Boulet - Team Newfoundland/Labrador – Draw 11
  • Nicole Shackel - Team New Brunswick – Draw 13
  • Brock Harrison - Team British Columbia – Draw 14
  • Dana Collyer - Team Northern Ontario – Draw 16
  • Johnathan Kelly - Team Quebec – Draw 17

2008 Tim Hortons Brier

The 2008 Tim Hortons Brier runs from March 8th – 16th at the MTS Centre. There are still great Brier seats available at amazing prices! Single draw tickets are now on sale from $18 per draw at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling (204) 669-3333.

Kick things off Friday, March 7th with Burtons Cummings in the Keith’s Brier Patch Ticket $35 at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling (204) 669-3333.

This program will help you teach students the fundamentals of curling and you will guide them through various activities that take place in the classroom, the gymnasium and, finally, the curling rink.
