The 2008 Tim Hortons Brier kicks off with a FREE day for everyone - FanFest Friday on March 7th from 11 a.m. till 6 p.m. at the MTS Centre!

First thing in the morning on Friday, March 7, keep your eyes peeled for Street Wavers in the downtown Winnipeg area. Their energy will get you pumped up for a great week of curling, entertainment, food, family, and friends.

The Ford Hot Shots Competition gets the ice rocking at 12:30 p.m. Have your lunch and watch as the 2008 Brier athletes go head to head attempting some of the most difficult shots in curling as they vie to be named “Hot Shot” of the 2008 Tim Hortons Brier and win a Ford Vehicle!

Off the ice there will be plenty of action on the concourse:

  • Have a blast at the Kids Zone with clowns, face tattoos, and colouring space with fun curling pictures to fill the afternoon!
  • Listen to music while you try your luck at floor curling. Go for the gold with a draw to the button!
  • Take in some Brier magic between 4:00pm and 6:00pm as a special magician will be roaming through the concourse.
  • Visit with Blue Bomber stars from 11:30am thru 1:30pm and enter for your chance to win an autographed football and a pair of season passes!
  • Don't forget your dancing shoes! We've got twist dance competitions for the young and old! The kids' twist contest starts at 4:30pm, followed by the adult competition at 5:30pm.
  • Our favourite friends will be joining us throughout the afternoon: Mick E. Moose, Goldie, Brier Bear, Scoop, Buzz and Boomer!
  • Make sure you also make time to check out the Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame display and talk to celebrities, past and present!

As if that isn’t enough, there will be draws throughout the day for Brier tickets and 500 people will walk away with Tim Hortons mugs including a free fill up at the Tim Hortons!

Keep the party going into the night on Friday, March 7th with Burtons Cummings in the Keith’s Brier Patch at the Winnipeg Convention Centre.  Tickets $35 at www.ticketmaster.ca or by calling (204) 669-3333.
